E-commerce, also known as electronic commerce or internet commerce, refers to the buying and selling of goods and services over the internet. The growth of e-commerce has been driven by advancements in technology, increased internet access, and changing consumer behavior.

The COVID-19 pandemic also accelerated the shift to e-commerce, with many consumers turning to online shopping as a safer alternative to traditional retail.

PAYMENT METHODS

In Colombia, at least 76% of Colombians who use the Internet have made purchases through this means, which makes some tools such as PayPal, PayU, PSE, Google Wallet... Because they are the places where where payments are made with greater security and ease in the network.

In the case of PayU, in Colombia there are more than 80% of the businesses that use the Internet for business, users have the widest range of payment methods on the market and do not make additional charges. As evidenced by the results of the payment survey carried out by the Banco de la República at the end of 2020, 50% of the businesses surveyed have adopted some electronic payment instrument or channel. Furthermore, 26.1% of the adoption of these services occurred as a consequence of the pandemic. Likewise, 51.4% of the businesses surveyed reported having had an increase in their electronic sales compared to those made in cash.

Companies in the textile industry use electronic payment methods to make it easier for the customer to purchase and this have added value to a brand. This is an opportunity for the industry since more sales are generated and customers save lines, waiting time and buy safely.
